Stunning location, beautiful hotel

We stayed for just two nights at the Abbaye having spent four nights in Annecy town with all it's hustle and bustel. The Abbaye stood on the banks of Lake Annecy in the quiet off the road village of Talloire. We were fortunate enough to receive an upgrade from our garden view room to a lake view room. Our room was small but very nicely decorated in a style fitting of such a beautiful building. It was spotlessly clean and was equipped with everything you could ask for, robes, fresh towels, toiletries, safe and minibar. The restaurant served good food and wine at a price similar to the other hotels and restaurants in the village. (fairly high, especially with the pound/euro rate at a low).
The staff were very polite and courteous and made our stay a special experience. The hotel had its own private pontoon on the lake, a nice place to sunbathe and view the lake from. Thoroughly recommended.

Vous avez obtenu au moins une étoile de plus le 10 juillet à l'occasion de notre fête familiale.
En premier lieu, nous avons envoyé une demande d'offre à une dizaine d'établissements. Vous avez été les premiers à répondre. ........
En second lieu, nous voudrions insiter sur la qualité du dialogue par mail avec votre "responsable des communications". Toutes les réponses furent rapides et claires. Je n'oublie pas non plus le charme de cette dame qui a su nous présenter l'Abbaye avec ses qualités. A ce niveau de qualité ce n'est plus du commerce c'est une ambassadrice.
En troisième lieu, nous sommes passés voir pour nous rendre compte de la manière dont nous pourrions nous organiser. L'accueil, celui du maitre de cuisine, du sommelier, de la direction, oui, vous aviez compris que nous recherchions une chose exceptionnelle.
En quatrième lieu la réception elle-même, nos enfants nne connaissaient pas le but de la promenade en bateau et la pointe de chute. Votre réception sur le quai et le buffet d'apéritif furent une grande surprise pour eux.
En cinquième lieu le menu que nous avions concoté ensemble a tenu toutes ses promesses, que le chef et son équipe soinet remerciés, les vins de pays choisis avec tant de soin par votre sommelier passionné, nous ont ravis.
Nos petits enfants, nos enfants se joignent à nous pour vous remercier de ce moment que vous avez gravé dans leurs mémoires. Et personnellement nous ajoutons un bravo et vous méritez au moins une étoile que vous avez cueillie dans le ciel!

This place is a wonderful, more or less unreal experience. The beautifully restored monastery at the foot of the mountain in the most beautiful surroundings. To swim in the lake and look up the mountains makes you as high as the kites that are flying around in the sky. The staff was really helpful at all times. Our room was quiet and beautiful. Not very big but had everything. The bathroom (especially the shower) is luxuriuos. Loved it!

Great way to end our ski vacation

We had to get out of the mountains because of big snow storms and decided to stay at this hotel for our last night before flying out from Geneva Airport. What a great way to end our skiing vacation! It is a lovely old hotel (an abbey, you sleep in the formerly monks cells) on the lake of Annecy. The location is quiet, we slept great. The service was lovely. And we had a great dinner in the restaurant. With our three children, it was no problem.
It was great to wake up in the morning to look over the lovely lake of Annecy. Hopefully we can stay here again sometime. It is one hour from Geneva Airport and on the way to many of the ski resorts.

Cet hôtel est magique...Son emplacement est idéal : dans un charmant village proche d'Annecy, avec une vue splendide sur le lac et les montagnes. L'intérieur est chargé d'histoire. L'escalier en pierre, la grande galerie, les plafonds couverts de poutres, les meubles anciens... tout contribue à donner cette ambiance si particulière.
Au 3ème étage, un sauna et un jacuzzi sont à disposition de la clientèle. Des massages et des soins sont aussi proposés (à réserver à l'avance) pour des moments de détente inoubliables.
L'accueil est très chaleureux et le service impeccable. Que ce soit à la réception, à l'espace "bien-être" ou au restaurant, tout le monde est aux petits soins.
Nous y sommes allés pour la Saint-Valentin et le menu proposé au restaurant était particulier pour l'occasion. Les plats sont joliment présentés et la nourriture est excellente.
Si vous souhaitez vous offrir un séjour hors du temps dans un endroit magique et vous déconnecter complètement du quotidien, l'Abbaye de Talloires est ce qu'il vous faut. Nous y retournerons sans hésitation.

I stayed at this beautifully restorted hotel, with a most excellent cuisine, fresh fish from the lake, while we waited...Well, that was many, many years ago in the late 1970s.
I fondly remember my stays as some of the most enjoyable ones with, dinner in the refectory, coffee and cakes outside on the terrace overlooking the lake.
I can only recommend it especially for romantic get-aways !
I am happy to read that the hotel is still in place.
A gem among others....

L'Abbaye a probablement le meilleur emplacement dans la baie de Talloires avec une très belle vue sur la rive opposée du lac. Par ailleurs, le passage est très peu fréquenté par les voitures, l'Abbaye étant situé dans une impasse (idéal pour les après-midi au soleil sur le ponton).
Chambre correcte (attention toutefois à faire les bons choix car les chambres sans vue sont d'un standing très inférieur alors que la différence de prix est minime avec une chambre standard avec vue).
Un bémol : le petit déjeuner trop cher (la très grande majorité des client va d'ailleurs prendre le petit déjeuner dans les bars du village).
A recommander réellement. Un avantage sous condition est proposé par l'hôtel : Talloires en liberté. Permet de bénéficier gratuitement de certaines prestations touristiques de la commune (navette circulaire du lac, location de barque et de canoë, golf,...). Un réel plus !

Stayed here just one night sadly, but will be back for more for sure. This old abbey has been very tastefully restored and converted into a hotel, one which keeps all of the old charm but is practical too. We had chosen one of the cheaper rooms, and even this was spacious, delightly furnished and comfortable. The hotel's position on the lakeshore of Lac Annecy is delightful, with a private pontoon on the lake where you can soak up the sun on a lounger, swim in the lake, enjoy a drink and book accompanied by gently lapping waves.

We spent a week in Abbaye at the end of July 2009 and enjoyed our stay there very much. The location of the hotel is superb with the lake on one side and mountains on the other. We had a great time swimming, enjoying the sun and beautiful surroundings, but also visiting the mountains in the area. There's also a hotel boat you can use to cruise the lake Annecy. Hotel and services are great and the staff were very nice, meeting our every need. A very special delight is having dinner on the beautiful terrace overlooking the lake every evening. The cuisine was magnificent, the service perfect and the scenery amazing. Anyhow, I would strongly recommend staying in this hotel to everyone who want to enjoy their holiday in a beautiful, natural place and we will surely be back next year to feel some more of that French "joie de vivre".
